ZEN ZONE
 Enter the ZenZone and explore a variety of mind-body classes. Our expert instructors will guide you through the ancient disciplines of Yoga and Tai-Chi and the more modern practice of Pilates. Our Fusion classes, including Body Flow, weave elements of these disciplines with traditional group exercise, creating a unique experience in the ZenZone. Located in a special sanctuary at Shoreline Health & Fitness II Old Saybrook, Connecticut you'll move your body, calm your mind and find you balance.

ZENZONE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

FUSION CLASSES

BODYFLOW  “A 21st Century blend of tai chi, yoga, and pilates.”  Three disciplines merge together to provide a workout like no other, increasing strength, flexibility and endurance with an anti-aging and stress reducing effect on the body.  This dynamic exercise-to-music program leaves class members feeling relaxed and renewed.

BUFF YOGA   A little yoga, a little strength training.   An excellent combination to challenge every muscle in the body!  Using optional hand held weights, this class will add a whole new dimension to your practice and training.

CORE/YOGA FUSION   Revitalize your body and awaken your spirit with a fusion of low-impact creative movement, deep core-strengthening yoga and muscle-conditioning pilates. Experience increased joint flexibility, balance, cardiovascular endurance and a greater sense of well-being! (suitable for all levels)

COMING SOON…POWER BALL:  Have a ball working your core assets!  Tone the entire body using the stability ball and fit ball, you’ll be amazed what you can do with them.  Discover muscles you never knew you had!

YOGA CLASSES

HEALING YOGA:  Carollanne and Doreen’s popular YOGA FOR HEALING CLASS is a slower asana practice that combines gently supported floor poses designed to release deep connective tissue with some more challenging poses as well as yoga posture flow to strengthen core musculature.  YOGA FOR HEALING is considered a gentle class, although it may include some standing poses, downward dog, and some modified sun salutations.

MORNING YOGA Wake up and energize!  For students of all ages and stages, take the asanas to your personal comfort level. Focus is on the breath and opening the body by focusing on sending the breath to the area of the body being worked.

POWER YOGA:  An active form of yoga that links a flowing sequence of poses together in a continual succession. This class will improve strength and flexibility while increasing endurance. There is a peaceful relaxation at the end of class.

TAI-CHI 

TAI-CHI   Experience the fundamentals of Tai-Chi consisting of gentle, poetic movements, healing mudras and ancient enlightening postures that will cultivate calm, release stress, and promote well-being. 

PILATES CLASSES

CIRCLE MAT CLASS  A "traditional pilates" mat class taught with the pilates magic circle for a unique challenge.

PILATES CHOICE  Pilates mat class enhancing strength and stability incorporating props such as the magic circle, stability ball, fit ball, and others.

PILATES MAT  A relaxed, soothing floor workout designed to strengthen the core, glutes and legs.  This class is based on Joesph's Pilates rehabilitation for Ballet dancers.  Take a load off and workout on your mat.

  • Please pay for classes at the SHF Front Desk. You will receive a pass for class, or get your punch pass dated.
